Today I had to return the rented lenses from this weekend. So sad to let them go! I decided to take advantage of the holiday and being in the city and finish off a roll of film I had started last night. While wandering around I stumbled on an anti-war/impeachment rally near the trolly turnabout in san francisco. I've had a thing for photographing pairs of pay phones for a bit and the rally paraphernalia added to the scene.
Doing a photo a day is difficult when film gets into the mix. I think I might actually be caught up, now. We'll see, though! I ended up shooting nearly 4 rolls[1] of film while walking around san fran today.
Oh, and a few more from the rally.
[1] Of course, when you find out that I only get 12 photos/roll that suddenly doesn't sound like much - does it?
Another long exposure. This one was 2 minutes on ilford panf with the hasselblad using a 40mm lens that I rented for the weekend. I loved the 40mm lens. I think it will end up being the next lens that I buy. This shot pretty much clinched it for me, too.
Taken at the Zeitgeist bar with a Zeiss Ikon 6x9 folder. Roughly 2 minute exposure. It's always fun to see what comes out when using a camera with no real viewfinder.
The rest of the long exposure shots (that came out, at least) from that night are here.
This shot is off of my bessa66 folder. Nothing like 6x6 in your pocket!
Another lens test shot. This time with the 40mm lens. Again, delta 3200 film - this strip of negatives got a little less manhandled than the last one though, so the scan came out a little cleaner.
It'd be a bad idea to make a final decision after one roll of film, but I'm thinking the 40mm is going to get my vote for next lens on the Island.
Playing around with some rented lenses today, trying to decide what i'm going to get next. This shot was taken with a 50mm lens using delta 3200 film - I was a bit sloppy in handling the film (got impatient to see the differences between the 30mm, 40mm, and 50mm lenses i rented) - but even without that, the 3200 film is grainy. But I think that's part of what I like about this shot.
One of the shots on this roll of film was destined to be my 7th 100day shot. Alas, I got tired of waiting for it to dry. So the film itself becomes the subject of the 7th day.
Damn though, are 6x9cm negatives nniiccee!
Arial shot of the boston skyline as we're flying out of logan. Guessed exposure - shot with a Bessa 66 and Ilford Delta 3200 film. There's a lot I don't like about the photo from a technical standpoint. But there's something about the image that I haven't been able to shake for most of the day.
Taken while fooling around with a dpchallenge idea.
Taking another swing at 100 days of photos - still working out how I want to mix in film to what i'm doing.
