In CA, on prop 8 - there were 1.2 million -more- votes for "yes on 8" than there were votes for every presidential candidate other than obama put together. That means at least 1.2 million of the people who voted for obama also voted for yes on prop 8.
News outlets are claiming a ~64% turnout of eligible voters nationwide - which is great[1]. The bay area, though? Both alameda (which includes oakland and berkeley) and SF counties were closer to only 55%.
On the obama side of things - Nate Silver over at Five Thirty Eight pretty much nailed things. The comparison of his final projection to actual outcome is almost scary. I think xkcd says it best, especially the mouseover.
On the photography side of things, I seem to be tracking at only roughly half the number of photos that I took in 2007. I have some theories as to why - i've stopped event shooting. I'm shooting more film which means more shoots where I come back with a few dozen instead of a few hundred shots. Also 2008 has soundly kicked my ass work wise - which always eats in to shooting time. Would it be possible to get another 5000 photos in by the end of the year? I'm not sure on that one. Could be fun, though :)
On the KLOC side of things - projecting a nearly 250,000-500,000 reported error rate the first time you run your entire codebase through pc-lint is sobering. Especially when that is after suppressing large swaths of error messages to begin with. Still - that cleanup will be worth doing.
On the $$$ front, while i've briefly carried balances on credit cards between purchases/payoffs, i've managed to stay unsecured debt free for the better part of the past 6 months. Here's hoping things stay that way! In the next 6-10 months my car will also be all paid off leaving me totally debt free.
On the job front, I'm now at five+ years on this job - which makes it my longest stretch at a job by far. Not counting internships, my previous job lifetimes were roughly 2, 3, 3, and 3 since 1992. I wonder how many more I have at this one?
Coming up on 2 years since the death of my step father. There's a lot of mixed things there, so this is all i'll say about that.
I'm also just a bit over 2 years of living in the same place. A few more months and that'll be a new "longest"

elvendoll and I have been together for longer than I was married - i'm looking forward to us being together for longer than I was involved with my ex-wife. Still some time on that one, though.
860 days since I last published a piece of music. That seems criminal. And depressing.
My mailserver has 7,772 members on 33 mailing lists who have made a total of XYZXYZ posts. In addition, it has 209 mail spools, 124 users who have received mail in 2008 but only 41 who have checked their mail in 2008 and 25 who have logged in to their shell accounts in 2008.
