freeze frame

The other night I went to the dna lounge to go see Psyclon Nine and Imperative Reaction play (photos coming soon). I took videos of a couple of the songs to play around with video on the 5d mk II. I learned that I need to get a better mic for it, for one. I also learned that this video thing could be something fun to get into. Also learned that while in-lens image stabilization is nice, more support would be better. Also, also - focus can be an interesting project. Finally, I learned that the software at vimeo that chooses a "preview frame" for your video has a great sense of humor, or just luck - as it chose the frame just before an overzealous fan body checks the lead singer of Psyclon Nine down into the crowd :)

(apologies for how noisy the video is. Some of it is because the builtin mic on the 5d2 sucks, the rest of it is because Psyclon Nine are a bunch of screeching, loud, noisy motherfuckers)

Yay. :)
They played down here in Phx while I was up in Reno, sadly. So at least I get a little vicarious show-going, thanks to you. :)

I also have a few more videos from that show, two from Imperative Reaction and one from Dismantled who did a few shows with them on this tour.

Comparing listening to their album at home to the concert, I feel like my speakers at home are lacking a certain ... punch

I would have paid good money to see Marshall take a body check like that in person. Did it fuck him up? Please say it fucked him up. Please.

Hilarious Psyclon Nine story: I saw them at The Pound (I think?) several years ago, on the Inri tour. Marshall pulled out a bible to burn it, but the dumbshit bought a flame retardant bible. He threw it out into the pit, which had stopped to watch him fail to do more than scorch a bible, demanding that we tear it up for him.

I caught it and winged it back at his stupid head. He was upset.

It was such a classic Spinal Tap moment though, seeing him hold a fireproof bible over a zippo like that. Awesome awesome awesome.

Haha - I don't know that it fucked him up - I couldn't make out the song well enough to know if he skipped a verse or something over it. Oddly enough they haven't made any comments on their sites about the SF show yet, so who knows.

They were fun live - though, to be fair, I think it was more because I was in the mood for a wall of noise at that point in the night, which they gave me :)

I didn't mean musically. I meant, did he get hurt?

ah - didn't look like it - this was taken at the beginning of the show, and he didn't seem to be limping around or anything like that.

Not a fan, eh? :)

Of Psyclon Nine? Yes, actually. A lot of it's rather good, although I find the vocal distortion distraction. I'm quite partial to Inri really.

Of Marshall himself? Well, if you can't say something nice.

I liked INRI better than crown thy fornicator (or however they want to butcher the spelling) - i haven't gotten the newest one yet, mostly because i'm trying to slow down my music buying and there's other things much higher up on the list :)

As for Marshall, i wonder if that's why he changed the name he was using?

great quality video. does nothing to improve the act, though :P.
