Oh, don't worry. The next day they trucked out a 50' tall live redwood tree to stand in the place of the exploded oil derrick for a couple of hours, and then trucked it back to ... wherever it came from. The live redwood tree shop, I expect.

I would love this whole piece if it were done with a sense of perspective on itself, which I sadly doubt it was.

wow. the "man builder neesd to catch up to the other exhibits out on the playa... After the waffle, and now this... even 1500+ firedancers just can't compare.

that's a phenomenal photo. also i'm glad to see it because at the time i was ducking to shield myself from the intense heat. hm maybe front row seats weren't such a good idea after all :P.
