Red Illusion

Red Illusion, originally uploaded by Focal Intent.

Favorite of this set, which is my favorite of the three sets [livejournal.com profile] aroraborealis and I did when she was out here visiting. Played with some fun ideas with mirrors and reflections and such. I can't wait to do more!

(Still playing around with ways to reference sets of photos from flickr and such - i don't think I will continue with this setup for long)

And, as usual - there's the flickr gallery and the Gallery 2 version.

these are stunning
the hand is one of my favorites
hands are power
i like that it's the hand
*the* the body in reflection
but everything about them is beautiful

It's fun - it's a very different sort of shooting, I find. Then again, many things are different from each other, and i really like that. Shooting someone is like something between a set up, arranged, still life (with the lights, backdrop, environment) and shooting a party or an event (moving! lots of moving!). Both, of course, being quite different from the "i'm going to sit my tripod here and shoot the city until i get the right combination of fog and light". Et so on, and so on.

Ever feel like there isn't enough time in the day to play? : )

I agree that this is the most photographically interesting set, though, of course, I love a bunch of the photos from the other sets, too :)

It's interesting how hard it is to look at photos of myself as photos rather than photos-of-me! I really love what you did with the mirror, though, and I especially enjoy looking at the "pairs" where the focus in one is the mirror and in the other is me -- really interesting!

If you end up doing the DP challenge you were talking about, I'd be curious to see the results of it.

Yay!

So do I! This set happened to be the quickest for me to narrow down to a set of favorites. Of course, it helps that i've been thinking a lot lately about the history of me and shooting people through mirrors, so I may have been a bit, er, focused on that one.

Alas, I missed the deadline for the DP challenge thing - though I may still try to play with the color work anyway, for laughs.

I can't wait - i've got a shift adapter to use my medium format lens on the canon showing up. What this effectively means is it gives me a way to play a game where I can do a head on shot of a mirror with the camera, but have the camera -not- appear in the mirror : )
