On the photo workshop in oregon last week, joedecker decided to have a contest for worst hdr image. So, for better or worse I dove into that one with both feet. I apologize in advance for these:

Nice. I'd really like to start playing with HDR sometime.. While you can end up with the technicolor breakfast photos, there's some awesome potential for shots like your last one..
